WBA JUDICIAL SELECTIONS TRAINING – Cancelled

Posted: September 15, 2025

The WBA Judicial Selections Committee is planning to hold a training at a later date for WBA members interested in serving as a panel member on the Maryland Women’s Bar Association’s Judicial Selections Committee.

WBA Judicial Selections Committee panel members provide an essential service to the Women’s Bar Association, to the bench and bar at large, and to the community through their participation in this important process by interviewing potential judicial candidates and providing the Governor’s Judicial Nominating Commission with its recommendations.

The requirements to serve on the Maryland WBA Judicial Selections Committee interview panel are as follows:

• Five years’ experience as a licensed attorney

• Five years’ membership in the Maryland WBA
(to serve as an “at large” panel member)

• Two years’ membership in the Maryland WBA
(to serve as a “local chapter” panel member)

• Panel members should not: (1) currently be a judicial candidate; (2) have been a judicial applicant within the past year, or (3) intend to apply for a judicial vacancy within the next year.

At large members are qualified to interview judicial candidates throughout the State of Maryland and for judicial appointments in all jurisdictions (District Court, Circuit Court, Appellate Court of Maryland, and Supreme Court of Maryland). Local chapter members are qualified to interview judicial candidates for appointments in their local chapter courts. Panel members are expected to participate in a minimum of two interviews per year – participating in interviews in jurisdictions outside their local chapter when needed.

If you meet these requirements to serve on the WBA Judicial Selections Committee and would like to attend the training, please download the application and send it to Maria Twigg.
